其實鼻子受傷不一定會馬上出現明顯症狀，有時就算鼻骨骨裂甚至折斷，小朋友頭一兩天亦可能只感到少許痛楚或流鼻血；而猛烈的撞擊也有機會造成「鼻中隔側移」，引發嚴重鼻塞問題，後果可大可小。「鼻中隔」在鼻中央的位置，是鼻內分隔鼻孔的骨頭；若受到外來的撞擊，可令它往一邊鼻孔傾側，輕則會出現與鼻敏感相似的鼻塞、呼吸困難等症狀，重則可引起炎症而需動手術治療，絕對不應輕視。

家長若發現小朋友「食波餅」令鼻子受過撞擊，最好是在24小時內盡快求診，讓醫生為小朋友作出詳細檢查。
